Description: A story i wrote

leelee - June 20, 2007 03:37 PM (GMT)
I'm posting this on another forum but they don't seem to comment much so im debating whether i should bother posting it there now.

Ok i have finished writing this but am posting it in parts, i'm posting the first 3 parts now as that's where they are on the other forum.

This story does in a way resemble the Madeleine McCann case, which surprised me when i re-read it as i wrote this last year, so if anyone thinks i should stop for now just say.

It's set in the current year (07) and all the characters in the list have significant roles, there are other's but these are the most important.
It's kind of horror/mystery so only read it if you think you can take it.

Josh Morgan (14), Erin Morgan (12), Katy Morgan (10) and Finlay Morgan (6) – Anna and Steve’s kids

Part 1: The perfect family

“Erin, your going to be late if you don’t get down here right now” Anna Morgan shouted to her eldest daughter.
“She’s always late mum, and always in the bathroom for that matter” her son Joshua joked.
“She’s hardly ever late Joshie” Katy said to her elder brother
“What have I told you about calling me that worm” he answered getting up and pretending to hit her.
“Oh, Josh, it’s sweet of her, at least you know she cares” chimed Steve Morgan as he entered the dining room.
“Steve, go and see what Miss Erin is up to, she’s going to be late” Anna said to her husband.
“Erin, get down here now or I’m coming up” Yelled Steve.
As soon as his voice stopped the thumping of feet was heard on the landing above their heads. As the feet trampled down the stairs, nearly as fast as humanly possible Anna realised that this wasn’t like Erin, she was always up in time and she never ran.
“Mummy, Mummy” Finlay said running into the room.
“What is it sweetheart?” Anna asked her youngest child.
“Erin’s sick mummy, very sick, she has the chicky-pok” Finlay gushed excitedly
“Poor kid” Steve said.
“She hasn’t Steve; she had the chicken pox when she was 5” Anna sighed.
“Mum, you want me to talk to her, I think I know what this is about” Josh said to his mother.
“Yes love, it would help, right Finlay, off to school with you, young man” Anna said picking up her young son and taking him into the hall.
Josh got up and left the table, on the way up he felt something strange, he looked out the landing window as he passed and was sure he saw something move behind the neighbours car, but if he had he couldn’t see it now.
‘ Probably just a cat’ he thought as he knocked on his sister’s bedroom door.
“Eri, come on, you have to go to school, Chelsey and Vicky will be waiting for you, and you never know that Ashley girl may not be in” Josh tried reasoning with his sister.
“She will be Josh, and she won’t go away, she just won’t, Emily said that once she picks her victim she won’t stop till they are begging” came Erin’s faint reply.
“Pay no attention to Emily, she doesn’t like us, she never has, it’s cos her dad don’t like Auntie Carly, and she hangs on her dad’s every word, Uncle Charlie’s been sayin she’s been playin up, Tash says so too, Emily’s just thick Eri, thick to the core, and besides, I’m at the same school, she picks on you she’s got me to deal with” Josh explained.
Slowly, Erin’s bedroom door opened.
“You Promise?” she asked.
“I promise” Josh answered.
Erin went back in her room and got dressed for school, when she came out she saw Josh still there, staring out of the window.
“Is it me Eri, or is there someone watching the house?” he asked her.
Erin followed her brother’s gaze.
“I can’t see anyone, but I swear I saw a light by that car last night, didn’t think much of it than but, not you’ve seen it……. We must be imagining things” Erin answered and walked downstairs.
Josh stayed, looking out the window for a few moments, that car HAD been there last night, and the night before, infact it had been there every night for the past 2 weeks when he thought about it, but never before then, he ran into his room and got a pen and his writing pad and jotted down the number on the plate.
‘ Better to be prepared’ he thought following his sister.

Part 2: Normal or not

Erin walked into her classroom to see Chelsey and Vicky whispering quietly in the corner, the classroom, besides them, was almost empty, the geek boy that always came in early was the only one there besides Erin's two friends.
"Hi Guys" Erin greeted walking up to the table she shared with her friends.
"Didn't think you'd be here today!" Vicky told her. "Good thing you are though, Lucy Cross said that Hannah told her that Beth said that Ashley's out of our lives"
"I think she needs it in english vic" Chelsey giggled noting the confused look on Erin's pale face. "Ashley's been expelled Eri, she's gone"
"Did you just say that Ashley's been expelled, Ashley Warrenson?" The geek boy asked.
It was strange that the girls had been in the same class as this boy for almost 4 years and still had not learnt his name.
"Yeh, what's it to you?"Vicky said clearly annoyed.
"Well she's my cousin, my name is Oliver Warrenson, surely you know that" Oliver, formerly the geek, answered.
"Why should we care what your name is, your probably evil, just like your so-called cousin" Chelsey snapped.
"Chels, don't be so harsh" Erin whispered.
"Erin, stand for something or you'll fall for anything" Chelsey replied as the bell rang.
The rest of the class rushed in, followed by their teacher.
As the ten-minute registration began in that classroom, Josh slammed his locker and headed to the hall, the teachers liked to get the kids involved in assembly's and he had to go and prepare for this mornings, he had to tell everyone why it is important to have good attendance.
"Woooo Joshie" yelled a boy as he walked past the open door of a classroom.
Josh was the captain of the school football team, he liked it and the rest of the school liked him, only Erin hated it, She had to wait behind after school for practice to finish, their parents couldn't pick her up as they were working, and she was forbidden to walk home alone.
Josh had been chosen to do this assembly as he had impeccable attendance, he hadn't missed a day of school since year 3, and the was listened to, the student body trusted him, little did they know Josh's attendance record was about to change for the worse, as were the attendance records of his 3 siblings. Their reasons for this attendance drop, would not be what a normal child of their age would expect, it would be just a mere footnote on the families path to destruction.

Part 3: When Josh and Erin got home.

Josh and Erin turned onto their road just as a police car shot past them and stopped up the road.
"Great, cops again, bet it's them Scoteley's up the road causing trouble again" Josh sighed.
Erin nodded as they carried on walking, but as they got closer it became obvious to them that it had nothing to do with the Scoteleys.
"Josh, they've parked outside our house" Erin began to panic as she sped up her walk.
"Maybe they went next door" Josh suggested to himself as Erin was already opening the gate and too far ahead to hear him.
Josh caught up with his sister at the side door about to head into the kitchen, as soon as it was open their mother pulled them into a hug, not wanting to let them go.
"Mum?" Josh questioned, looking at the uniformed officer standing in the kitchen.
"What's going on?" Erin asked as they were released.
"When did you last see Katy, Josh?" their father asked.
"When i went to get Eri for school, why?" Josh asked.
"She wasn't at school Josh, i took her there, i know i did, she was there, i dropped her off on the way to work" their dad rambled.
"Dad?" Erin asked.
He pulled her to him and held her tightly, it was at this point that Erin realised he was holding Finlay with the other arm.
"Dad?" Erin asked again slightly more demanding.
"I wen't to pick her up after her club, she wasn't there. Josh, Erin, she wasn't there, the school said she'd left with her uncle" their mother explained.
"So call Uncle Charlie" Josh put in.
"We did Josh, he didn't pick her up" Their father explained tightening his grip on Erin and Finlay as if they too would dissappear before him.
Erin started to cry.
The policeman had until now been quiet but now he chimed up.
"Now your older children are back to you think that they could take the little one into another room, we need to discuss how we are going to proceed" He said to Anna and Steve.
Erin looked up at her dad, then to her mum who nodded at her.
Josh closed the kitchen door behind them but stayed by it, with his ear by the stained wood, listening to the conversation taking place.
"Josh, come on" Erin said heading into the lounge.
"Shhhhh, go watch Finlay, i'm gonna see if i can find out what's happened to Katy" Josh whispered in reply.
Erin knew not to argue with her brother, she also wanted to know, but she had to let Josh look after Katy, she had Finlay to look out for.
