I just read an interview with EP and once again, she expresses exactly what I've been thinking:

TV GUIDE: How did you feel when it was suggested that Meredith almost drowned because she didn't want to save herself?

EP: One episode I could be completely happy and the next episode I'm trying to commit suicide. Of course it was a surprise and then I just had to figure out how Meredith got to that place and hope the audience would stay with me. I think what was frustrating was after that near-death experience when she had this revelation that Derek was a great guy and she wanted to live for him, then she comes back and everything goes back to normal. It didn't seem to have taken me anywhere significantly, which is why I think the whole three-part ferry episode was just a distraction from what was going on with Isaiah and everything behind the scenes on our show at the time.

TV GUIDE: Do you think she and Derek will stay together?

EP: I have no idea what will happen. I'm extremely sick of talking about Meredith and Derek - although I'd rather talk about them than have no job!(laughs). If you break up with people that much, you will never have someone. The reality is that nobody is perfect and relationships are a lot of work. You get out of them what you put in. So you have to have faith in people and it's not a great human characteristic to just walk away from someone who does one thing that bothers you. I don't understand how they can be so attracted to each other yet they keep walking away from each other. I would love to sit here and justify M's actions but none of it makes any sense to me.

I love ellen and i credit her for speaking up. She honestly can't be anymore dead on. She's totally right. It shows how good of an actress she is because she makes the best of the material she gets. If i were her, i would be extremely worried in the direction of my character and i would be wondering what the hell is going on :blink:

I'm happy that the actors are opening up (PD, EP) about the direction of thier characters. Since Shonda won't listen to her fans, maybe ep and pd will slap some sense into her. The show is turning into a soap opera and the characters have changed soooooo much

Haha, glad to see I'm not the only one :claps: . My friend and I have even had arguments about this because my friend thinks Kate Walsh is like... the hottest thing ever lol and I like Ellen/Meredith better. Kate Walsh has those huge hands, kinda creepy :ninja:. But she's still pretty. Are there any Addison/Meredith (Addith? Merison? Huh.) shippers here? If so, I have a treat for you haha. Ellen talked again :) , this time apparently in London on her promotion tour through Europe (I got this from the acb grey's board):


In her case, she knows her fate is in the writers hands: “It’s frustrating sometimes. I ask myself, why would Mer do this? But if it’s there it is for a reason, so I just let them do their job and I do mine”. “I have no control over what is going to happen”, Pompeo goes on, “Besides, if I build up any expectation I’m going to be disappointed”.

Poor Ellen, she is so unhappy with her character :( . Life as an actor/actress can really suck. She hates what the writers have been doing to her character and to MerDer but there is nothing she can do about it, she has to stick to whatever the script that she's handed says.

I think Shonda is gonna be pretty upset with her because she keeps saying what's on her mind which is mostly negative stuff about the writing lately. But honestly, I don't really understand why they would send Ellen on promotion tour anyway. She's never been good at dealing with the media. Her talk show appearances weren't great and the studio noticed that so they sent people like Eric Dane, Kate Walsh and Sandra Oh to the talk shows, Ellen hasn't done any promotion for the show for a long time. And now in this difficult time when the fans are disappointed and the reviews for the past episodes have been bad they let Ellen do the promotion... I noticed that before, she tends to talk about personal stuff and doesn't seem to be aware the whole time that she is not talking to some friend but actually to the media. It probably takes up all her energy and self-control to not talk about IW's firing as she was ordered by ABC/Touchstone. I mean, I think it's awesome that she speaks her mind because she is so right in everything she's been saying but it certainly won't give her any points with the producers/writers on the show...

I don't think that Ellen has been really directly insulting the writing, she's being extremely careful in her words, which is fine. There is nothing wrong with an actress saying they are a little frustrated in thier character. She has a right to open her mouth, especially when she is absoultely right. Even Patrick has expressed frustration with his character and ever meredith and derek. Patrick in his interviews has made it totally clear that he does not at all like lexie storyline if it becomes a mer/der/lexie triangle. Not that he has anything against Chyler leigh. He's not the only one who would be fuming. I don't think i would be able to stomach another useless soap opera inspired triangle.

I honestly feel bad for these actors. They are all so lost with this show. It feels like a totally different show. Go back to the season 1 magic.

And i'm glad the actors speak up. Shonda doesnt listen to her fans, maybe she'll listen to her actors. But its Shonda's world so she'll do whatever SHE wants even if she ends up sabotaging her show because of it. She doesnt realize that she is losing so much viewers. Because people are fed up with gizzie and merder, and now alot of people are leaving because they will forever hold a grudge on IW's firing. I hate to say it but if she doesnt get the show back on its feet this season and back to the original grey's, i would give it another season then something might happen :sob:

I love ellen, she's so sweet and adorable. At least she does the promotion things. Sometimes she can be a little uncomfortable but i kind of get the impression she's a shy girl in real life. I think when people ask her about Patrick, thats when the real uncomfortable-ness comes in (for obvious reasons) and when they talk about mcfelon. She seems like a private person in real life, so i understand why she's a little guarded in her interviews. So if Ellen gets in trouble for speaking her mind, i would be infuriated.

When I saw some of her talkshow appearences, e.g. on David Letterman, I got the impression that she was a total bitca. Plus the infamous Punk'd thing :unsure:. I was sooo upset because I love Meredith and the thought of the actress playing her being such a diva was awful :sob: . But then I saw some other interviews where she was just talking to one person without an audience being there and I thought she was really nice :) . She seems intelligent and caring and although she is not the funniest person herself I think she has a good sense of humor. She is just not the born entertainer like Kate Walsh who cracks me up with her funny anecdotes and impersonations :rofl: . I think she gets intimidated when she has to speak in front a lof of people (remember the speech she gave at some awards this year, GG or People's choice I think, where she was so nervous she mixed up Kate Burton and Kate Walsh? :rolleyes: ) and she doesn't enjoy the spotlight as much as most other actresses do. Which in my eyes actually makes her more likeable. I agree, I think she is a rather shy and quiet person initially which doesn't make for the most entertaining interviews but definitely makes her seem more "normal".

I agree :) . And she doesn't have to be the most entertainable interviewr either. Her job is to get people to like her in her own way and to get people to watch the show. I like the fact that she seems so normal because it's always nice when we see actresses that stay grounded and don't let fame get to thier head. Sure, to some people she may come off as bitchy but i think they are a bit to quick to judge.

Keep in mind she is always day by day getting used to this new found fame that she has come across. She's finding herself as an actress and she's becoming her own as an actress so i think it's a little unfair for people to judge her and call her a bitch by one interview. Trust me, people can be so mean at her. Especially by insulting her weight and her attitude (like the punk'd thing). Leave her alone! And those people who tend to hate her are addison/kate walsh fans. I just think its unfair for people to beat on her like that. Whats the point? What kind of rise to you get out of it? Just because some people don't like her character doesn't mean they should beat up on the actor. I used to like Addison (not anymore) but i think KW is a riot, not as pretty as EP in my opinon but i don't dislike KW at all. She's kick ass.

And what people don't realize about the punkd thing is that it was staged! Mcfelon was behind it. Don't ask me about the motives or whatever but he knew about it and he backed it up. So people should just back off.

I don't think Shonda will give her flack either for saying what she's saying, it seems like everyone on the cast and crew (besides a certain somone no longer with them) has a strong relationship. I don't think Shonda expects them to always like what they do with their characters but I think they also have faith in Shonda's finished result.

Ellen's always spoke out and I agree I like it about her. I remember on Oprah she was saying she doesn't like how Meredith deals with men and how personally she would never, ever beg a man. I was like Oh shit, Ellen pompeo I think I'm in love with you. HAHAHA.

Ellen makes less money than PD per episode! In the beginning that made sense because PD had been in a lot more movies than EP and had been in the business way longer than her, but now? She is the main character of the show and she is really famous by now. That might just be one more example of the fact that men still get paid more than women for doing the same (or less) amount of work :angry: .

This is a recently posted interview (the actual interview happened during the start of the hiatus).

Ellen talks about her mom :sob: which is actually quite sad because i feel horrible that she had to go through all that but she also talks about Mcfelon. And how they are trying to have kids right now :unsure: . I wish Ellen the best and would be beyond happy for her if she got preggers but i still get horrible vibes from him, i just hope he's treating her well. I don't hate on McFelon because he's a fug (well, kinda), i do it more so because i am concerned for Ellen because he just seems like a loser (even though it's probally not my place to judge)

There's been rumors going around that Meredith might be pregnant this season (either as a result of a potential ONS on cristina's honeymoon or it would be derek's baby of course) because apperantly, since they're has been rumors going around that ellen is trying for kids, they would rewrite a pregnant callie storyline to a mer storyline.

It's all very interesting. I'm super excited for the season and i want to see what happens.

I don't think i'll ever see what ellen sees in him. They're is just something eerie about him. I don't like him soley because he's ugly. His mannerisms around Ellen just rub me the wrong way. I'm concerned for Ellen's well being, even if i have no place sticking my nose in her buisness.

The interviewer even was a little eerie about Mcfelon too. She said ellen has this kind of vunerabilty that makes them wonder, as if mcfelon is a good thing.

Ellen also said that when her and Mcfelon met again at the groceries the 2nd she said he was meant to be in her life.
