I don't think it's very realistic... but there are medical terms in it. When my mother is watching with me she is always going to explain everything...

It must be really cool to watch it from the POV of a med student. I'm taking the MCAT myself in May, and I can't wait to get to med school and watch the show all over again with all that extra knowledge. How unrealistic is it, exactly? I mean, is it ludicrous, or tolerable? :)

hi! sorry it took me 2 months to reply! I've just started the clinical year. I'm in the surgery posting this semester and the work is REALLY CRAZY! because now, we started seeing patients, and the last 2 years were all about books. so when I first see the real patients and the environment in the hospital, its really different and now everything is practical. I think you guys know how its like to work in a hospital, its pretty much the same with the stuff going on in SGH. But I'm just a medical student, so I havent really been in surgeries, or done the sutures or prescribe medicines. All I'm learning now is the general examination. *cant wait to cut people up* lol
As for how realistic the show is, I can say its pretty realistic! I heard some of the cases were taken from true stories. and the life of a doctor and the difficulties of being tortured by attendings and residents are true too. sometimes its worse in real life! So yeah, to me, that show is pretty informative. Anyway, its just my opinion. I have a friend who doesnt really like GA. He said it was too much drama and too little medical stuff. But to me, it is supposed to be fun, right? Being a doctor can be really fun! The only difference in real life is you cant really find doctors as hot as McDreamy and McSteamy walking around the hospital :sweatdrop:

Hey medish! Thanks for sharing :) I always find it interesting to read med school student's and doctor's point of view of the show! I always get scared and wonder "Can THAT really happen?!" so it's good to hear that the show stays fairly accurate with it's medical-ness.
