A sincere question:
Why not a spin-off?
Ashley - March 18, 2007 07:59 PM (GMT)
well first of all that would add another medical show to the network. and the characters on Grey's Anatomy are what makes it special. people could really care less about Mark and might not care if he gets his own spin-off, but many people have grown to like Addison because she's been on since the end of season 1 and is considered a vital character. people might stop watching Grey's if she's not on it, and people might find it hard to like the spin-off because the cast might not have the same magic that Grey's does. so the chances are it will ruin Grey's or the spin-off will be a failure, or both. if the spin-off ends up being as good as Grey's then that's great, but chances are it won't.

I TOTALLY agree. Plus, I don't really like Addison anyway. Although, every once in a very long while, I feel sorry for her. But after what she did to Patrick, I don't think I can possibly ever watch a spin off about her.

Why don't you like Addison?

no offense to anybody, but this is my take on this issue. i'm a bit confused about my feelings regarding the spin-off. on one hand, i relly love addison's character (in fact i kinda like her character more than mer's), and she does contribute greatly to the dynamics of the show. your fear that GA would be seriously affected by this is justified. on the other hand, i feel that addison (and kate walsh herself) does deserve her own show, because the writers have succeeded in making her one of the most likable and followed characters on the show, but unfortunately, addison's character could never get far in GA since mer is the lead. am i making sense here?
my point, i guess, is that i'll have to reserve judgment on this issue until it airs. it probably wouldn't be as phenomenal as grey's, but i'd most definitely watch it.

I get your point I kind of have two takes on it.
1. I absolutely hate the idea of taking a lead character off of Grey's especially Addison *tear*
2. Love Kate Walsh and would really love to see her have her own show
starry.eyed.girl - March 25, 2007 06:31 PM (GMT)
when i heard the idea of a spinoff for addison i was seriosly disappointed. i think having two show that are so closely related will ruin each show. Its not that it would be addison getting her own show, i wouldn't like to see the show split for anybody.

I like Addison!...alot better than some characters!...and she really contributes to the greatness of the show!...Sob! :(
seriouslyserious - March 26, 2007 01:55 PM (GMT)
I completely agree I think Addison is great and would hate to see her leave the show, greys just wouldn't be the same with out her
loopylu - March 27, 2007 12:53 PM (GMT)
it doesnt matter who the spin off is about. the point is there is on one greys anatomy and the network of incidentds has made it what it is today- great!
spin offs are always a bad idea with a great show like greys
momo - March 28, 2007 04:05 AM (GMT)
i love the entire dynamics and chemistry of all the characters... so it makes me sad to see a spin off :(... i signed both petitions btw LOL
Ashley - March 28, 2007 02:22 PM (GMT)
haha the thing is, all of the hardcore Grey's fans don't want a spin-off to happen but I know we're all going to watch it so it'll probably do well
lennizabeth - April 4, 2007 06:19 PM (GMT)
nah, hopefully it will only do "well" on the first day, and then the episodes after that, people will soon be bored with it, and it won't go anywhere... Then cross your fingers that we will have our addie back!!

Leslie - May 4, 2007 03:35 AM (GMT)
I don't know...I happened to enjoy the way they worked the spin-off into Greys this evening. It didn't look half bad. The cast was good and the story line was good. SOoooooo...
seriouslyserious - May 5, 2007 01:54 AM (GMT)

Im happy to hear that some of you guys didnt care for it also, I hope it doesnt make it so addie will have to return to greys, and then our greys will stay the same

I agree, spin-off's don't usually go down well and i don't think this one will either if it goes ahead... so i'm signing both petitions :D

I feel that a spin off is good for addie I mean all us extreme addie fans want what's best for addie I mean we all have a feeling of doubt but If you can set that a side for a moment and think if addie goes to La she can almost start over and be possibly happy for a change and I feel that is so important and as long as she doesn't get dumped by pete (extreme Mcvomit) she can find happiness and even if the show goes down she still has her contract witth grey's so it is okay so personally I think the spinoff is one of shonda's best Idea's ( aside from keeping Kate on the show as a regular) :sweatdrop: :sweatdrop: :sweatdrop: whoooo that is alot of work!!!
