I definitely think there is hope between Merder. I personally think they will be fine. Maybe this sneak peak is shonda's way of throwing us off and making us worried about them, she's making it seem like they are going to be on the rocks but i believe they will be fine.

Because of how he's talking, about how basically he cared more for other peoples families than his own, the Chief doesn't want Derek to get too involved and burn Meredith so it makes me thing he's telling Derek I pick you...but LISTEN.

I think Derek will decline the offer of course and the Chief will stay on a bit longer.
