Title: An Apartment

I'm an aspiring writer and I wrote this for a free choice assignment, where we write what we want... Just curious what anyone thinks of it if they feel like reading it ^_^
*************************************

Deep within the recesses of the captive and oppressed mind, behind the bitterness and between the desires to escape and to avenge, lies dormant a perpetual dream of an end to means. It is a humble little two-bit apartment, overshadowed by the prestige and vintage of the pompous state college next door. It was independent. It was alone, at last. As the busy people pass on their busy city streets with their busy city minds and their busy city lives, no one notices it in the least. Still the humble little apartment doesn’t care. A scrawny square foot of lawn, cowering in front of the doorstep, suffices as the obligatory shred of greenery for human dwellings.

Painted a dull blue grey, the door hardly rose up to greet potential visitors, and rarely finding occasion to anyway, rather blended in with the walls. And perhaps two inches above the door, two tenets of excuses for windows existed amongst the bricks, and occasionally let light in; and on lonely winter nights couldn’t turn away the cold and on inescapable summer days gave shelter to the heat, like a couple of philosophical philanthropists. The roof, sheet-metal grey, gave a flaky promise of protection from the rain and a good reception for the game.

Awkwardly situated between a sky-rise and a student facility, this impressively unimpressive little apartment is the unforgettable driving force behind wispy dreams. It is tucked away just out of reach, and yet the only orifice through which the prisoner could escape to find hardship, a test for perseverance, and the payoff of independence.
